If you compare guidebooks on this question they have different answers. I live here and know there is only one simple answer. You don't tip anywhere at any time. Even at salons and in a taxi there is no tipping. Ironically, the Japanese provide some of the best customer service in the world.

I think Coke has done a better job than Alexander conquering the known world. You can find Pepsi in Japan but Coke is the dominant American soft drink. Every month or two I find a vending machine with Mt. Dew and jump up and down and generally cause Japanese people to laugh at me.
Coke in Japan to me anyway tastes exactly like Coke in America. In Chicago there was a Mexican place that imported Coke from Mexico and it was good but more sweet. In Europe I thought that Coke also tasted sweet but in a different way.

Japan's Prime Minister is Taro Aso. You can read his profile at:

His days in power seem limited as he is very unpopular with the Japanese people. That one of his key political allies recently resigned after falling asleep at a press conference and appeared drunk did not help anything.
I love Bono but was not trilled with this article. What do you think?
